The Objective of Seminaries and Institutes and You
Study
Your role as an online teacher is to help youth and young adults deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven. The work you do as a teacher for Seminaries and Institutes is literally the work of salvation. This is part of the gathering of Israel. There is no greater work on this earth!
Questions to Ponder
Take a moment to listen to President Henry B. Eyring's perspective on how teachers can help students come "to know and to love God." Think of ways that the principles he shares can apply to your online classroom and remote gathering experience.
- In what ways can you assist students to feel the love of Heavenly Father in your online class?
- In what ways can you call upon the power of the Holy Ghost to assist you in facilitating your online class?
President Eyring offered incredible insight into the nature and destiny of your students. We hope this gives you courage and faith as you begin the online learning experience. Next, you will participate in an activity where you will ponder the words of President Eyring and prepare to meet with your local seminary and institute representative.
Go and Do Activity
Record ā Take a moment to record your thoughts and feelings regarding the following items and share your responses with your local seminary and institute representative when you next meet.
- After watching the video, write down your impressions or feelings about what you can apply to your teaching practice from President Eyring's words.
- Do you feel that any of these impressions or feelings were inspired by the Holy Ghost?
- If you didn't feel any specific impression about what to apply to your teaching practice, consider asking your local seminary and institute representative for suggestions.
